Festive Activities
【FH Waldorf Dictionary 5|Festive Activities】Festivals have been an essential element in maintaining the spiritual life of human beings since ancient times representing the awe and connection of human beings to nature. Different festivals also symbolised different groups, nations and countries with their history, beliefs, humanistic values and culture. It is conceivable that the meaning of festive activities is deeply rooted in human life and is also a mirror reflecting human history and culture🪞.
Waldorf education values festivals a lot. At 🌳Forest House🌳, we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival🏮, Christmas – the Winter festival🎄, Easter – the Spring festival🐣, end of the year – the Summer festival, and many other class in festivals to deepen the children's learning experiences while adding fun and reverence to each occasion. We sing🎶, draw🎨, dance💃 and tell stories📖 to the children to teach them the meaning behind the different festivals. The children then share happiness and joy with their parents and the neighbourhood. The plays the children do at the festivals create an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of a year's hard work. Standing in front of a whole community strengthens the children’s sense while giving them a sense of belonging. Through the festivals, we are grateful for the present while looking forward to the future.
