Class Play
【FH Waldorf Dictionary 8|Class Play】The saying goes, “A minute on stage needs ten years of practice off stage.” Plays are not only about expressing words full of emotion but also require intimate cooperation and bonding within a group and a community. This can be a very good learning experience. Therefore, Waldorf education regards plays as an essential learning activity throughout its curriculum.
At 🌳Forest House🌳, we have a class play performance at the end of each school year. The class teacher will create the script based on what the students have learned that year, like fairy tales, myths, literary works, or historical events. All students take on different roles in the play, allowing them to explore and feel the characters, the knowledge, spirit and meaning behind the story.
Before performing the play on stage, teachers and students will rehearse lines, choose background music, practise movements, and even dance together, co-creating a unique and pleasant learning experience. Some parents might even participate by making costumes and designing sets to join in the fun with teachers and students.
